To highlight the activities of our club's Foundation this week, we enjoyed a plethora of speakers.
Gary Bennett led the AGM Foundation meeting. He put forth a motion to remove the restriction of service time on the Board of Directors. The motion was made, seconded and was passed.
Gary explained the foundations activities and spoke of some of the organizations that the foundation has given funds to. Representatives from 3 of those organizations were on hand to speak of their respective group and what they each do.
A representative from The Gospel Mission was the first to speak giving us examples of some of the clients they have helped to overcome some dire circumstances.
Second to speak was our own Ron Cartmell representing the Salvation Army giving us a brief idea of the work that is done by his organization and the impact they have changing lives for the better.
Lastly to speak was a rep from the Okanagan College Gateway Program. He introduced one of the Welding students named Harry who gave us a compelling talk about his journey prior to the Gateway program and how his participation in this program has changed his life and promises a very bright future for him.
